The title pretty much sums up my weekend. I took Friday off in an attempt to get some things done that I'd rather not do on the weekend: get my OH license, new plates and an OH title. That's where the bad comes in. I thought I did my part in researching online where I could take care of all three things in one place. I even woke up early Friday so I could be the first in line. License agencies here are always a nightmare. Well, as it turns out the OH BMV website is way outdated! The agency I went to told me I had to take a knowledge test and had to go to another location to do it (although the website says if you have a valid out of state license the test is waved). Not only that, the title office that was suppose to be at this first location apparently closed a couple of months ago so I couldn't take care of that task either. The only thing this agency could do for me was inspect my car and provide me with a OH Rules of the Road Driving book to study. Frustrated beyond belief, I drove to another location to take my test, change my title, get my plates and receive a new license. I did FINALLY get everything done, however, it took a little over 3 HOURS to complete! Seriously, I do not understand why the process of becoming an OH resident has to be so complicated and tedious. It was just my luck too that the laminating machine for the license pictures was having problems and burning a card that was stuck inside right before it was due to print mine.
My weekend did improve. I couldn't ask for better weather. It was so beautiful Friday and Saturday. I did some hiking outside Saturday with some friends and later that night I saw the musical Mama Mia on stage. It was FANTASTIC! I've never seen the movie, so this was my first encounter with the show. I've had the songs in my head since then. If you ever get the chance to see it, I highly encourage you to.
This week is off to a good start. The nurse at the office I am working at passed my resume along to her son-in-law this weekend. While we were at work today he sent her a text message that she let me read. I'm under the impression that the news director was impressed and excited to see a resume for a producer position. (Most broadcast majors want to be on TV not behind the scenes.) So... keep your fingers crossed. It would be awfully nice to work right here in Cincinnati. Who knows what will happen, but it's a step in the right direction. I can honestly say that after this weekend (maybe it was the amazing weather) I am feeling the most content and relaxed I have felt in a very long time. It truly is a great feeling. I hope everyone else is enjoying themselves as well.
